Establishing an effective article marketing strategy is pretty similar to the strategy employed day to day in your current setting.

The biggest difference is that article marketing is more effective.

When a potential customer enters your store now, you don't try to sell them everything in your store in one fell swoop. Rather you identify what they are looking for and focus your attention on selling them the appropriate product.

Your top sales staff understands the key benefits your customers are seeking, the questions they ask and the hidden objections they don't. Make sure you get their insights, and use these on the product page.

Now that you have done that, it's time to employ the article marketing strategy.

The first step is to identify the keywords people use to search for your product. If you are selling a digital camera, you can expect that people will search for them by brand name, and in a number of generic variations. Using Google's External Keyword Tool, you can quickly come up with the top 5 to 20 keywords people use.

Turn these keywords into titles for a series of 5-20 articles of 400-600 words each. These articles should focus on the same benefits, questions and hidden objections your live customers display. Reuse parts or all of the same information in each article but make each one unique.

Once written, submit them to as many article directories as possible. There are a number of article submission services that can do this for you inexpensively.

The directories in turn make your articles available to ezine and blog editors and anyone else who is interested. Those who write for audiences relevant to your product are likely find and republish your article to just the right audience you want to reach.

So if you are selling cross country skis and do an article on XYZ Brand skis that discusses their specific benefits, a blogger that posts about skiing may well run your article to a highly targeted audience.

The one requirement is that who ever uses your article must include a live link to the resource box you will put at the bottom of each article. This resource box will refer the reader to the web page you created for the product.

Since the information in your article is basically also on your web page, when a prospective customer comes to your page, after reading the article, they will see congruent information. This will help them feel as though they already know what you are telling them and it will ring "True" to them.

Since they discovered your information on a third party web site or blog, you have in effect received a neutral third party referral, even though you wrote it yourself. Thus it's important that your articles discuss features and benefits without selling.

This "non sales" sales approach meets today's consumer's primary use of the computer as a tool to get information. By providing information in the article you meet that need head on while providing a vehicle for the interested customer to find your sales page and make the purchase.

Not only does this approach bring customers to the product sales page on your web site, it also brings Google Bots and other search engine robots as well. This increases your product pages ranking in the search engines and ultimately helps you get more exposure in the search engines for that specific page and for your entire corporate web page.
